A fruit sugar, C6H1206, which occurs
naturally in honey, the nectar of flowers,
and many sweet fruits, and is commercially
prepared from glucose. It is a
monosaccharide, whereas the more familar cane
or beet sugar is a disaccharide, made up of
two monosaccharide units: fructose and
glucose. It is sweeter than cane sugar.
